Salt & Light Ministries needs your support.
Salt & Light ministries is registered in the county of Amherst Virginia as a “mobile church” and is a non-profit, tax exempt organization. Jay & Elizabeth are considered a “mobile church” as most of their ministry is in prisons throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia. They are considered as volunteer “Staff Evangelists” with Hope Aglow Prison Ministry, filling services in the facilities and on the schedule that Hope Aglow assigns them to. As “volunteers” they are not compensated and must raise their own support to travel the many miles required to fill this need. When opportunities are open to do so they also present their ministry in Word and Song in other churches in order to raise an awareness of the need for prison ministry as well as solicit prayer support. They also minister to local members of the community on a request basis and from time to time host bible studies in their home.
Jay & Elizabeth answered God’s call to step out by faith into full time ministry January 1, 1998 with no support and only God’s promise which was; “I will provide through sources that you know not of.” Had they waited until they had sufficient support pledged they would still not be in ministry by faith and there would be more than 3,000 men who’s names would not now be written in the Lambs Book of Life. What is left over each month after paying basic living expenses, which are very modest, determines what groceries they will buy and if they can take on an additional service or not. Each month they witness a miracle when the bills are paid on time.
There are many reasons that Salt & Light Ministries needs your support and is worthy of your consideration such as:
- Remember those who are bound as though bound with them.
- There is a GREAT NEED for doctrinally sound ministries to carry that sound doctrine into the prisons as it is a breeding place for false doctrines being carried in by unsound “ministries” and piped in through television.
- They have added more than 80,000 miles to their vehicle in only three years and both vehicles are older with high miles and having multiple mechanical and/or electrical issues. A newer vehicle with lower miles is needed.
- Besides the prisons they are in regularly already there are four other facilities that have expressed interest in having Jay & Elizabeth come on a regular basis. Jay & Elizabeth cannot “pass the hat” nor ask for money in prisons and neither Hope Aglow nor Virginia Department of Corrections compensates them for their time or expenses for travel. The support they need comes from God through His people.
Though there are many more reasons that could be given as to why Salt & Light Ministries needs, and is worthy of your support, there is only one good reason for you to respond. That reason must be that the Spirit of God leads you to do so. It is an investment in souls behind the Iron Curtain of Virginia’s Department of Corrections. An investment not only in evangelizing the lost but also feeding God’s sheep who need to be taught the Word of God in order to grow in their newfound freedom in Christ.
